I never had a desire to get a shinobue but the sale price was irresistable. The instrument is delightful and like every other instrument I have purchased from Taiko of exceptional quality and tonality.

You send it without a leaflet with a fingering chart, a few hints of how to play it and a few tunes. At least the fue is ok.

I'm only just a beginner, so this review probably isn't worth a whole lot. However, I love this flute!! It's replacing a defective cheap Carrot Music one I've had for years, but could never do much with since it had a random extra hole on the bottom and was pretty out of tune, and hard to play. This one is much easier, and sounds sooo much nicer! It has a really nice coating on the outside, not sure what it's made of, and a different really nice red coating on the inside! It even comes with an awesome bag. I'm practicing it almost every day now, it's just so fun to play. I can only reach maybe an octave and a half of it's full range so far, like Ryo-on to half of Kan-on (C up to like E2 or so), and not Tsutune, but I'm confident the rest will come. I played all the notes I can reach alongside a cellphone tuner app, and they all came back correct. Maybe a teeny bit off, but at least in range enough for the tuner to call it what it's supposed to be. Also, I'm pretty sure where it IS off, that's very probably my lack of skill and not the flute itself. Proper embouchure is hard! In short, to a rank amateur like me, this is a great flute!! I will treasure it always, or until it breaks from overuse, and then I'll get another one.

This is a very good quality flute for a reasonable price. The finish is smooth and elegant, the tuning accurate, and the craftsmanship top notch.

It is a nice shinobue for beginners.
