Paranku

Small Hand Drum Used For Okinawa Eisa Dance

Paranku is a keyinstrument for eisa dance in Okinawa. Eisa performers hold it with one hand and strike it with a bachi with the other hand while dancing energetically. It is very light and anyone from kindergarten kids to seniors enjoy performing eisa. Body is made of plywood and skins are genuine cowhide. It produces clear sounds without reverberation. Paranku is not so heavy and even children can play it easily. A bachi comes with it. Please note that it takes a couple of months to make black one.
