Air expanded plastic, similar material to swimming pool noodles. They work quite well on the Roland Taiko-1, softer than a pen tap on a table for people around you. but hitting a maximum strength of level 2 of 6 in the drum. Too soft to fire the Roland's rim trigger, but more than good enough for night practice in an apartment. Lessens the impact of those flying Batchi wall dents too :D ahem.

I ordered these because I needed to reduce the volume of my practice in my shared house. So far so good.

Amazingly I could this allows me to practice with force and yet not feeling tired. Best, I don't have to worry disturbing my neighbours.
