Sports Day!
Second Monday in October is one of the Japanese national holiday, Taiiku no hi (Sports Day). It became the national holiday to commemorate the opening of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo held on October 10 in 1964. It's said that the October 10 is the fairest day of the year. That's why, the school field day is often held in the day close to the sports day.
In 2020, it will be held on July 24, the day of the opening of the 2020 Summer Olympics.
