Shakuhachi is one of the most popular Japanese instruments. It is played solo and with other Japanese musical instruments. Lately, it is played with the western musical instruments, too.
There will be a huge demand for the shakuhachi as a musical instruments that is tuned and sounds well. It is said that half tone of Tsu and Ha is hard to make sound with usual 5-holes shakuhachi. To make such sounds easily, the customization to make additional holes is used. It is often requested by folk song shakuhachi players.

It is usual shakuhachi, which has 5 holes in total: 4 holes on one side and 1 hole on the other side.
[7-holes Shakuhachi (After Customization)]
It has 7 holes in total: 6 holes on one side and 1 hole on the other side. By making additional holes, it is easier to make sounds of half tone of Tsu and Ha.

Customizable Wooden Shakuhachi
Second Monday in October is one of the Japanese national holiday, Taiiku no hi (Sports Day). It became the national holiday to commemorate the opening of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo held on October 10 in 1964. It's said that the October 10 is the fairest day of the year. That's why, the school field day is often held in the day close to the sports day.
In 2020, it will be held on July 24, the day of the opening of the 2020 Summer Olympics.
